Beef Dog Food

Making Your Dog Happy With Beef Dog Food

Making a beef dog food for your dog is a special meal that any dog would love. All dogs love meat and any type of beef is one of their all time favorites. While many people think that making your own dog food can be more than costly and time consuming, it does not have to be.

Depending on where you buy your meat, what type you buy, and how you prepare the actual food, it can be very simple and fast. Your dog will thank you for caring enough to make him the best food possible.

The Beef

While the quality of beef you get for your family is very important, for your dog it is less of a concern. While high fat content should be avoided in a beef dog food, some fat is not an issue. The best place to get beef cuts for less is the butcher. They have parts of the cow not sold in your average grocery store. This is lower quality meat that is not as tender as what is sold in stores so you can get it for much less than paying top dollar for tenderloin. Butchers also have better prices on meat cuts and larger amounts than other places, so this will cut your spending down. You can always freeze what you will not be using right away. Meat can be frozen for up to six months.

Your Fiber

Dog love meat, but they need other types of food to help keep them healthy. You will want to use vegetables as a source of protein. This will make up a good chunk of your dog’s food. While protein in an all beef dog food is essential, it is not the highest portion of the food. Vegetables that are dog friendly are broccoli, carrots, peas, green beans, potatoes, lima beans, and squash.

All can be cut or mashed and used as a source of vitamins, minerals, and fiber in your dog’s diet. TO save money you can use frozen foods. This saves you cash in many ways. One, frozen vegetables cost less to begin with than fresh ones. Last they store longer. This means you can buy larger amounts and keep them frozen till you decide to use.

Carbohydrates For Your Dog

When it comes to the energy source of your all beef dog food, you will need some type of carbohydrate source. Rice is one of the best ways to get this and at the best cost. A huge bag of rice can be bought for very cheap and it lasts a long time. The best type of rice to get is whole wheat.

Other inexpensive carbohydrates for dogs include old fashion oatmeal, corn meal, and enriched white rice. You can use one or mix them all together for your own special blend. When you are making any type of food for your pet, always contact your veterinarian first to be sure how much of each ingredient to use.
