Hotdog Dogs for Your Hot Dog

Hotdog Dogs are a great treat for your canine companion. Unlike processed treats, you will be able to know exactly what is in the food you make at your own home. These hot dogs can be used as food, too. You simply can add some grains and vegetables to the mix to make it a well balanced meal.

Dogs, like humans, should only eat good fats, so be sure to not give your dog anything you would not eat yourself. When purchasing any type of hot dog product, be sure it is low fat and lean.

Ingredients:

To make your Hotdog Dogs you will need the following ingredients:

• One package of turkey, chicken, or reduced fat beef franks
• Two tubes of whole wheat dough mix

If you are making a dinner instead of the treats you will want to add the following to the shopping list.

• 16 ounces of assorted vegetables (fresh or frozen)
• Two cups of rice
• Four cups of broth or water

Method:

Depending on whether you are making Hotdog Dogs as a meal or a snack, you will need a few tools for cooking. If you are making the treats, you will simply want a baking or cookie sheet and some non-stick cooking spray.

If you are making the meal you will also need two medium saucepans to cook the rice and vegetables in. The following directions will help you make your magic meal or treats for your dog:

The following directions will help you make your magic meal or treats for your dog.

1. Preheat oven at 180C (350F) or Gas Mark 4

2. Slice hot dogs in half length wise

3. Cut halves into approximately inch pieces

4. Wrap each piece with dough

5. Bake for 5-8 minutes or until golden brown

For those who are making the meal you will want to add the following directions to your spread.

1. Add four cups of broth to a medium sauce pan

2. Add rice to broth and bring to a boil

3. Reduce heat, cover, and simmer

4. Add vegetables to another pot

5. Cover with water and boil

6. Allow rice and vegetables to cool

7. Mix hot dogs, rice, and vegetables together

Once your Hotdog Dogs are cool, simply serve the goodness to your dog. All left overs should be refrigerated. Treats can last up to a week in an air tight container or bag. The dinner should only be used for four days or frozen.

When freezing your dog dinner, you will want to be sure to use freezer safe containers and bags. This will allow you to store individual serving sizes that are easy to thaw.
