Treating Your Dog to the Meaty Dog Dinner

When you want to make a great meal for the best dog in the world, try making your puppy the Meaty Dog Dinner. This is the homemade dog food recipe that puts all the other recipes for dog food to shame.

Dogs, like people, love to eat fresh food that tastes good. Store bought kibble is filled with fillers and preservatives. While this can be great when you are in a pinch, making your own dog food has so many more benefits.

When you make your own food for your dog, you are telling him that he means so much to you. You may ask how you are telling him this, but it will be apparent when you see how much healthier your dog will be.

Ingredients:

You will want to use the following ingredients to make your Meaty Dog Dinner:

• Two chicken leg quarters
• One pound of ground beef
• 15 ounces of kidney beans
• One cup brown rice
• 2/3 cup rolled oats
• One cup cottage cheese
• 10 ounces of frozen spinach (thawed and squeezed dry) or 5 ounces of fresh
• Two cups of frozen (thawed) or fresh broccoli
• Two shredded carrots
• Half cup olive oil

Method:

When you are making the Meaty Dog Dinner, you will want to be sure to use only fresh or frozen veggies to avoid the added salt in canned goods. If you do decide to go with frozen vegetables, make sure to thaw them out and dry them. You will also want to soak the kidney beans overnight in water to prepare them. You can use chicken broth as well. Once ready to begin making your dog food you will want to do the following:

1. Place chicken leg quarters in large pot

2. Fill pot with water to cover chicken by one inch

3. Bring to a boil

4. Reduce heat to medium-low

5. Cover pot and simmer for 40 minutes

6. Add kidney beans to sauce pan

7. Cover with water

8. Bring to a boil and reduce heat

9. Simmer until soft

10. Cool chicken legs

11. Remove skin and bones

12. Chop meat and set aside

13. Add rice to chicken broth

14. Bring to a boil and reduce heat

15. Simmer until rice is tender and drain excess broth

16. Add rice to bowl with chicken

17. Heat large skillet to medium-high

18. Add ground beef

19. Cook till crumbly and no longer pink

20. Pour off grease

21. Place beef in bowl with rice and chicken

22. If using frozen veggies, add them to chicken-beef mix

23. If using fresh, boil until soft, then add to mix

24. Mash kidney beans

25. Stir in mashed beans, oats, cottage cheese, and olive oil

26. Serve and store

When storing your Meaty Dog Dinner you will want to leave only enough for four days in the fridge. Just like your own food, food left longer will spoil. Extra serving can be stored in the freezer for up to 6 months.
